TITLE: School Psychologist/Psychometrist

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certificate: Current valid Kentucky Certificate appropriate for the position.
  2. Degree: Master’s Degree in Psychology.
  3. Experience: Has experience in diagnosing, evaluating, and counseling.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

 

JOB GOAL:          To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by promoting their sense of self and by treating psychological or mental health problems.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Participates  in the psychological assessment of children K-12.

  1. Develops system-wide programs and schedules for annual group testing.
  2. Assists in the administration of group tests of intelligence, aptitude, and achievement.
  3. Administers tests and recommends placement for exceptional children.
  4. Consults regularly with teachers, counselors, and school administrators regarding classroom management programs and serves as a resource person.
  5. Evaluates on an ongoing basis the district testing program.
  6. Conducts statistical analyses of test results and prepares informative reports for the Board, professional staff, and parents.
  7. Assists in planning and conducting inservice educational activities for the improvement of teaching practices in the areas of test construction, test administration and test results evaluation.
  8. Maintains case records on all referred students.
  9. Cooperates with mental health and social welfare agencies.
  10. Keeps informed regarding research in psychological and educational testing and the development of improved tests for use in educational and counseling programs.
  11. Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board and reflected in district salary schedules and individual employee contract.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
